About the role

selectability is seeking a passionate specialist support coordinator to join our team. As a specialist support coordinator, you will play a vital role in assisting recipients with mental health conditions to navigate the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), interpret their individual packages and navigate the healthcare system. You will work collaboratively with recipients, stakeholders and other service providers to design, plan, implement and review a recovery plan for recipients with psychosocial disability. It is your role to ensure they are getting the most out of their NDIS plan.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • supporting and empowering recipients to make their own choices as to how they want to lead their lives
  • provide time limited support to recipients over complex matters
  • provide Specialist Support Coordination for complex recipients
  • work with recipients, their families and carers to identify a broad network of supports that may assist a recipient to use their NDIS plan
  • work with complex matters such as restrictive practices, secure units, multidisciplinary teams, and forensic orders
  • prepare specialist progress reports
  • coordinate a variety of services for recipients to support them to live fulfilling and meaningful lives within the community
  • engage with and manage recipient key stakeholders (including government agencies, community and clinical service providers and families); you will ensure that the supports and services are leveraged, not duplicated
  • work with recipients to strengthen their ability to coordinate their own supports to live their best life

About you

  • a working knowledge of the NDIS

  • a demonstrated high level of attention to detail with a consistent approach
  • a demonstrated ability to prioritise conflicting priorities as required
  • ability to work under minimal supervision with the capacity to exercise initiative in the application of work processes and procedures and establish objectives and outcomes
  • a demonstrated ability to show empathy and compassion
  • a proven ability to think critically and approach challenges with innovation

Role requirements

  • relevant bachelor degree (Social Work, Psychology, Disability, Occupational Therapy)
  • maintain membership to a relevant professional body (e.g. AHPRA, AASW)
  • some travel to selectability sites may be required from time to time
  • current nationally recognised first aid and CPR certificates (or ability to obtain within the first month of employment)
  • a Positive Notice Working with Children (blue card) (or the ability to obtain)
  • NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (or the ability to obtain)
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module "Quality, Safety & You" completion certificate (or the ability to obtain)
  • a current minimum P1 "C" class Queensland drivers licence
  • roadworthy vehicle with comprehensive insurance

The specialist support coordinator is a casual position based in Townsville.
