About the role

selectability is seeking a dedicated operations manager - child and family care on a fixed term maternity relief contract (until November 2025) to oversee and enhance our child and family care services across the entire footprint. This strategic role is pivotal in ensuring high-quality service delivery, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement.

In this role, the operations manager will lead and manage a dedicated team, providing guidance and support to ensure exceptional care delivery by overseeing daily operations, addressing and resolving operational issues promptly to maintain service quality.

This role requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of child protection and family support services. By fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment, the operations manager child and family care ensures that the needs of children and families are met with compassion and professionalism.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Leadership and Management: Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Operational Oversight: Ensure efficient and effective day-to-day operations of child and family care services. Monitor service delivery quality and drive continuous improvement
  • Compliance: maintain high levels of understanding and interpretation of the Child Protection Act, Human Services Quality Standards and Child Protection Regulation.
  • Policy and Procedure: assist in standard of care review processes for regions by providing guidance, support, and direction. Review program practice and level of care in line with best practice initiatives.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: foster strong relationships with clients, families, staff, and external stakeholders.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Reporting: Prepare comprehensive reports on program performance and operational metrics for senior management.

Travel to regions to support, advise, and analyse regional stance with regards to quality and practice will be required.

 

About you

To be successful you must: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work/Psychology or Behavioural Science qualification and or relevant experience
  • highly developed person-centred communication skills
  • excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • possess a child-centred and strengths-based practice framework and be able to support children and families in a mental health context
  • be understanding of the requirements of diverse communities, including but not limited to Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander, culturally and linguistically diverse and LGBTIQA+ backgrounds
  • a commitment to best practice
  • strong ability to interpret complex information and relay that information to relevant stakeholders in simple terms

You will also need:

  • hope and healing (or ability to obtain prior to start)
  • a current open/P1 “C” Class Queensland drivers licence
  • a roadworthy vehicle with comprehensive insurance
  • a positive notice working with children (blue card)
  • a yellow card exemption or NDIS workers screening
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module “Quality, Safety & You” completion

About the offer & Benefits  

This is a Fixed-Term position based in Townsville.
